Ferris + Associates worked closely with the University of Toronto and architect, Zeidler Partnership, to develop a landscape and planting scheme that would bring together the neighbouring residences, theatre, and café in a tightly knit pedestrian space. With lighting, natural stone accents, an open patio, and bicycle parking, the space connects St. George Street to the west and to the pedestrian axis to the east, benefiting both the new residents and the greater University community. A private courtyard terrace was developed that uses low maintenance plantings. This outdoor amenity space acts to provide a visual escape for the residents. The project was taken from initial design to installation, including coordination of existing and proposed landscape features, and with interest groups and University landscape maintenance staff.
